Flyer Wire

Back to Kel-Tec stuff

A major problem with using HP ammo in the P-32 is the added risk of Rim Lock. A fellow member of KTOG (Flyer) came up with a solution for the rim lock problem. You can make them your self (out of 1/16 inch wire)

To install it first take the base plate off of the mag, by using a small screwdriver to push the button in on the center hole of the base plate while pushing the base plate forward, but be carefull as the spring base plate is under spring pressure and will shoot out if you don't hold it in.

Next, make sure the angle of the eye loop is bent at the same angle as the one the rear of the mag makes with the base plate

Then you have to make a notch in the magazine follower and spring base plate. I used a 1/16 inch drill bit to make a round slot for the wire to ride in on the back of each, then smoothed and slightly widened each with some 400 grit sand paper.

To install, first put in the Flyer Wire in with the loop facing the rear. Then install the follower and mag spring making sure the wire is in the slot in the follower.

Push the spring and follower all the way into the mag, making sure to line up the notch in the rear of the follower with the wire. While holding the spring spring base plate up in the mag, slide on the mag base plate 1/2 way. Now you can easily turn the eye loop towards the front of the mag, push it in just a little bit more, and slide the mag base plate all the way on the mag.

I think Flyer will be selling them a bit long so you will have to trim to fit. This is so you can trim it to fit a stock mag, or one with a +1 extension. No matter which you are using, install the wire, then mark it at the top of mag follower with the mag empty. Then cut the wire at that mark, or just a little bit below it. I made mine just a tad below being flush with the follower.
